Cromell’s original name was “Little Norway” when, in around 1850, a large group of Scandinavian settlers chose to settle on this land located at Hales Pass. Later, when the families petitioned for direct mail delivery, John Cromwell came over from Tacoma to check out the settlement and was so impressed by the community that he secured an official post office for them, and “Little Norway” became “Cromwell.” Like much of the region, Cromwell is a combination of gorgeous beachfront, housing neighborhoods, wooded areas, and farmland.
